About SubStocks
SubStocks shows which stock tickers Reddit's investing communities are talking about most, next to how those stocks have moved.
How It Works
Once every weekday, after the US market closes, we read the posts and comments of the last 14 days on r/pennystocks, r/wallstreetbets, r/stocks and r/investing and count how often each ticker is mentioned, either as a cashtag like $TSLA or as a capitalised symbol. Words that look like tickers but have no market data are dropped.
What You See
- The most-mentioned tickers per subreddit over 3, 7 or 14 days
- Daily mentions next to the closing price, so you can see whether buzz and price move together
- How mentions changed compared with the previous period, to spot tickers that are picking up
- Company information and links to the Reddit discussions and Yahoo Finance
Data Sources
- Reddit's API for posts and comments
- Yahoo Finance for daily prices, trading volume and company information
Good to Know
- Data is updated once per weekday; prices are daily closes, not live quotes
- A mention is not an opinion: we count how often a ticker comes up, not whether people are bullish or bearish
- Some tickers are also common words, so a few mentions may not be about the stock
